State of Georgia Makes Recycling Mobile with their Trailer Program

Atlanta, GA (October 24, 2008) - - -  As we become increasingly aware of the threats to our global environment, greater recycling efforts are needed in order to create change. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs was searching for a program with a uniform brand that would build statewide awareness of recycling. They needed a product that was easy to move, setup, transport, service and store, unlike traditional stationary recycling containers. Their search ended when they found ClearStream by ClearTainers, Inc., together they developed a turnkey system that includes everything needed to recycle at community events.

Grantees were awarded up to 100 ClearStreams (5 transporters each carrying 20 ClearStreams), and a trailer. In addition, the trailer comes with the clear recycling bags and a manual to ensure their successful implementation. The ClearStream ClearTainers that Georgia granted statewide are loaned and shared by over 3,000 customers at tens of thousands of venues and events nationally. (?)Also see the family of stationary ClearMax ClearTainers, the permanent away from home solution for indoor and outdoor recycling success.

Randy Hartmann, Director of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs says, “The biggest challenge when it comes to recycling at special events is contamination. The public gets confused and as a result, recyclables and trash get mixed together. ClearStreams eliminate the confusion between recycling and trash containers. When people see that clear bag, they know what to do with their recyclables and they get it right.”

The greatest financial benefits of this “Turnkey System” are the in-kind hours provided by volunteers, which helps stretch government resources. Loaning and sharing allows organizations to recycle at their own events. By loaning the ClearStream containers to volunteers at their events, recycling happens all season long. It’s a grass roots solution that has great staying power.

Clean recyclables are only part of the story. When real recycling happens, people are also much more concerned and careful about putting trash in its proper place. According to the Aluminum Association, recycling one aluminum can save as much energy as you would find in half of that can’s volume of gasoline. Cleaner air, less water usage, a reduced carbon footprint and reduced raw material usage all have great and lasting effects on our planet.  Our environment is cleaned up one recyclable at a time.

Successful recycling at special events reinforces the positive and wholesome benefits that are taught in our schools and reinforced at home through recycling education. The Georgia Trailer Program is a winning example of state and local government in action and will be used by groups to bring recycling to events for many years to come. To utilize these ClearStream® containers, have your organization get in touch with your local city or county. There are thousands of ClearStream customers in al 50 states, loaning out ClearStreams to local groups.
